Community strength through local forestry

About Us
Initiated by the Simpcw First Nation and funded by BCTS and the Ministry of Forests, the Robson North Thompson Forestry Coalition has membership from Simpcw Resources Group and Simpcw First Nation, five community forests, municipal representatives, value-added manufacturers and industry representatives.
The coalition held a field tour in April 2024 and an in-person meeting in Clearwater in March 2025. The aim of the coalition is to optimize fibre use, strengthen regional value-added manufacturing, build local capacity, and foster community employment and sustainable development through collaboration.
Simpcw First Nation received the 2025 Collaboration Award recognizing their leadership in establishing this coalition by the First Nations Forestry Council in April 2025. An early product of this group is the creation of a directory including fibre flow information of the manufacturers, tenure holders, and supporting members of the coalition.
The group has received funding to support the continuation of its work, including the development of an online wood marketing tool.
